Walton's History

Walton D&C was originally established in the 1980’s by local businessman, Ted Brodel. The company underwent a change of owner when Fred Walton bought the company, employing then Site Manager, Bill Freshwater.

In 2001, Bill Freshwater and local Electrical Contractor Ray Westlake acquired the company and continued to offer a quality service. In 2006, following the retirement of Bill, Son Dave Freshwater and Simon Richards were appointed to the Board of Directors, after having worked for the company for a number of years. Since then, Ray, Dave and Simon have forged ahead, taking on bigger projects and breaking new ground as well as developing the electrical aspect of the business. Our Directors are all time-served tradesmen, with backgrounds ranging from electrical installation, groundworks, construction and Building development. Dave and Simon have been friends since Primary School, and remain the best of friends, ensuring Walton D&C continue to offer a quality product to our clients.

In 2015, the business underwent a complete re-branding, when Dave and Simon took on the ownership, following the retirement of Ray Westlake, who is now happily sunning himself in the South of France.

Dave and Simon are planning on taking the business to the next level by introducing new systems and ensuring our level of quality and service is better than ever before, this will be achieved with oversight of thier wives, Stacey and Karen, who now manage the financial aspects of the business. Walton D&C aim to continue their close customer relationships and hope to improve service levels, whilst still remaining competitive.

Working across the South West

Our Geographical focus centres on the South West of England, being based in the beautiful ocean city of Plymouth. However, we do work much further afield if required to do so; in 2006 we worked in Johannesburg, South Africa on the Gautrain Project for Bombardier Transportation. This project saw four of our staff working alongside local labour, supervising the installation of High Voltage and Control Cabling to a new rail system, linking Johannesburg and Pretoria in preparation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
